Call Admission Control Algorithms in OFDM-based Wireless Multiservice Networks

چکیده
Orthogonal frequencydivisionmultiplexing (OFDM) is becoming a fundamental technology in future generation wireless communications. Call admission control is an effective mechanism to guarantee resilient, efficient, and quality-of-service (QoS) services in wireless mobile networks. In this paper, we present several call admission control algorithms for OFDM-based wireless multiservice networks. Call connection requests are differentiated into narrow-band calls and wide-band calls. For either class of calls, the traffic process is characterized as batch arrival since each call may request multiple subcarriers to satisfy its QoS requirement. The batch size is a random variable following a probability mass function (PMF) with realistically maximum value. In addition, the service times for wide-band and narrow-band calls are different. Following this, we perform a tele-traffic queueing analysis for OFDM-based wireless multiservice networks. The formulae for the significant performance metrics call blocking probability and bandwidth utilization are developed. Numerical investigations are presented to demonstrate the interaction between key parameters and performance metrics. The performance tradeoff among different call admission control algorithms is discussed. Moreover, the analytical model has been validated by simulation. The methodology Y. Adaptive call admission control and resource allocation in multi server wireless/cellular network
The ever increasing demand of the subscribers has put pressure on the capacity of wireless networks around the world. To utilize the scare resources, in the present paper we propose an optimal allocation scheme for an integrated wireless/cellular model with handoff priority and handoff guarantee services. The suggested algorithm optimally allocates the resources in each cell and dynamically adj...

متن کاملAn approach to connection admission control in single-hop multiservice wireless networks with QoS requirements
We present an approach to connection admission control in single-hop multiservice wireless networks with quality of service (QoS) requirements. The approach consists of two steps: 1) the specification of an admission region that captures the QoS requirements and 2) the formulation of a generalized knapsack problem that captures the connection admission control. To illustrate approach 1), we det...

متن کاملIntegrated voice/data call admission control for wireless DS-CDMA systems
This paper addresses the call admission control problem for multiservice wireless code division multiple access (CDMA) cellular systems when the physical layer channel and receiver structure at the base station are taken into account. The call admission problem is formulated as a semi-Markov decision process with constraints on the blocking probabilities and signal-to-interference ratio (SIR). ...
